Good heavens, what am I getting myself into? What am I going to say?
Haaaa! You’re here!?!?!?
Well then, um… hello!
Forgive me, but this is my first time starting a blog and I really have no idea how to begin this introduction!
Perhaps should I tell you a little about myself?
Who I am:
My name is Ilona, but since it’s good practice to have a pseudonym on the internet, I chose: Orchid.
It’s a reference to one of the people who raised me and who instilled in me their passion for flowers. This is usually when people start to get intrigued when I tell my story.
“What do you mean, one of the people who raised you?”
My parents had always struggled with drugs and alcohol, to the point that I had to go through detox when I was born. After that, you can imagine I wasn’t exactly left with them… they practically ran off, forgetting me behind.
What scatterbrains they were!
I was placed with various foster families. Things didn’t always go very well with the first few. (That’s an understatement!), I might talk about that another time.
But I have wonderful memories of the last one, the couple who took care of me. A florist and a carpenter. They couldn’t have children of their own, so they decided to foster children like me. There were four of us living under their roof at the time, and although life separated us, the six of us remained very close. That’s the closest thing I have to a family.”
I was a good student in school, but at 18 I had to fend for myself to find a place to live and pay for food, so I didn’t pursue further education. (Sorry if I make any mistakes). I trained as a beautician and worked in cosmetics stores for a while, then I trained as a caregiver, and now I provide home care.
Talking about my life so much, at this point I feel a bit like a patient on a therapist’s couch!

I only recently got my first computer, and I wanted to make videos for vlogs, but…
Damn! It’s incredibly difficult to talk to a stupid camera!
I’ve never been good at public speaking, and in front of a camera, I start stammering and blushing like a tomato as soon as I have to speak… And… I look so silly!
Oh, that famous trick of imagining people naked or on the toilet… It doesn’t work with a phone camera!
Since I can’t do vlogging, I’m resorting to blogging.
I have a huge passion for fashion and makeup. I don’t really know what I’m going to talk about here, but fashion, makeup, or wellness in general could be topics.
Hey boys, don’t go! I know it’s not a very manly topic, but it won’t be the only one, I promise.
I want to talk about video games. I don’t have a high-end PC, I’m a beginner, and I have a limited budget. So, I won’t be playing the latest big releases, but I’m curious to discover this new world opening up to me and to share my impressions with you. (Feel free to recommend games to check out, whether retro or indie.)
I’ve always had two dreams in my life:
1/ To learn to write.
I’m very shy, and I’ve never shown my writing to anyone, but perhaps doing it anonymously will give me the confidence to take the plunge?
2/ To learn to draw.
I’m also a beginner at drawing, and my beginnings are terrible, but you can’t expect to be Da Vinci right away. I think it might be interesting to see the beginnings and progress of a beginner artist. And if I can inspire others to try it themselves, I’ll be very happy.
Well, I think I didn’t do too badly with that introduction!
